FAQs

What is Hospice?

Hospice is about embracing the hope to live as fully as possible, in comfort and dignity, even in the face of advanced illness. With decades of combined experience, the Mount Sinai Hospice staff delivers home hospice services to effectively manage symptoms, promote quality of life, and support patients and their families

Eligibility?

There are no age or disease restrictions for hospice. Mount Sinai Hospice helps patients with cancer, heart disease, end-stage lung, kidney or liver disease, Alzheimer's, ALS, or any disease in a life-limiting phase. In addition, patients experiencing serious multi-symptom decline involving severe cases of malnutrition, weight loss, inactivity, and mental impairment (referred to as "failure to thrive") are also eligible for hospice care. Anyone may make a referral to mount Sinai Hospice: patients themselves, family, discharge planners, nurses, doctors, etc. Eligibility for hospice services must be certified by a patient's doctor or the hospice physician.

How do I pay my bill?

Mount Sinai Hospice accepts Medicare reimbursement as 100% payment. We use this reimbursement to pay for 100% of clinical services from us as well as medication, supplies, and equipment related to the hospice diagnosis and the care we deliver.
